Extra Tec Fitted
Once your bat has been fully prepared (either by yourself or via our Complete Cricket Bat Preparation service), we strongly recommend applying a sheet of Extra-Tec. Extra-Tec is a sheet of (transparent) thick and strong plastic that is known to “hide in plain sight” on the face of the blade. At Keith Dudgeon Cricket Specialist, we offer an Extra-Tec Fitment service.
Extra Tec serves incredibly important purposes:
– Prevention of surface cracking and moisture absorption
– Improved bat longevity
– Provision of approximately 12 months maintenance-free bat use.
It is important to note that there are countless imitations of this product, with some being of incredibly poor quality. The Extra-Tec sold and used at KD Cricket is the highest quality “Tec” that we have ever seen.
It is also possible to buy a 33cm sheet of our Extra-Tec (for $12) from our website and apply it yourself. However, there are particular steps that we take (in our Extra-Tec Fitment service) which assists with the Tec adhering to the blade much more effectively than it would normally.
You may find that (without our special process) the oil in the bat causes the Tec to peel and bubble, sometimes within just minutes of application.
